Mothing with Alan Macnaughton and Discovery Program Staff
July 16, 2024 @ 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm
The moths you see are different depending on the season and habitat.
On Tuesday, July 16, Alan Macnaughton will be at MacGregor Point Provincial Park. Alan is a popular presenter with our Club.
Alan plans to spend about half an hour with an indoor presentation in the Visitor Centre outlining some highlights of his life-long interest in Moths. Then the session will move outside to the Amphitheatre nearby to see what moths will be attracted to Alan’s equipment and set up. This component of the evening is expected to last until about 11:15 pm; but you can leave at anytime.
This Moth Night is part of the Discovery Program at MacGregor Point Provincial Park and is therefore not an OSFN event. If you wish to attend, access to the park is on the usual basis of an Annual or Season’s pass, or a Daily Vehicle Permit of $18.00 per vehicle. There is no additional cost for the program itself.
Consider going early enough to enjoy the beach or the trails in the park and taking a picnic dinner; but please arrive at the Visitor Centre 15 minutes before the program starts.
Through the OSFN, Alan Macnaughton will be providing a Moth Night in Owen Sound as part of our fall program schedule.

OSFN Indoor Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Bayshore Community Centre, 1900 3rd Ave E Owen Sound. There are no Indoor Meetings in July and August. Please see the individual event listings below for more details.
We invite speakers with a wide range of expertise from Grey/Bruce and other parts of the province. These evenings are open to the public. The auditorium is open by 6:30. The meeting gets under way at 7:00, and may include brief announcements by other organizations as well as OSFN club activities, club business, social time, nature sightings and reports.
The club also offers a full schedule of outdoor activities during the year. Through these outings, members learn more about the birds, plants, mammals and geology of this part of Ontario. We also keep a protective eye on our precious natural areas.
