An Autumn Morning Nature Ramble with Pat, Rod, and Erik Sein.

Pat, Rod and Erik Sein invite you to join them for an Autumn Morning Nature Ramble along the Lake Huron Shore, with a focus on birding, plus watching for other Nature highlights along the way.

They will begin at the mouth of the Sauble River at 7am, likely arriving at Oliphant by the flagpole at 8am – then continuing northwards with stops along the way, including Petrel Point and Limberlost/Bury Road, and arriving between Noon and 1pm at their house in Ferndale, where Pat says she will have a pot of chili and buns waiting in the slow cooker. There will also be coffee, tea, cold drinks and cookies.

“We are hoping to see a variety of waterfowl, gulls, shorebirds and raptors. And, we are hoping for views of migrant birds including: American Pipits, Horned Larks, Lapland Longspurs, late migrant Warblers plus our fall and winter friends – the Juncos, Sparrows and Kinglets. And as always, we are hoping for any rarities!”

Difficulty: Most walking is on smooth, non-challenging terrain.
Limit: 12-16

OSFN Indoor Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Bayshore Community Centre, 1900 3rd Ave E Owen Sound. There are no Indoor Meetings in July and August. Please see the individual event listings below for more details.

We invite speakers with a wide range of expertise from Grey/Bruce and other parts of the province. These evenings are open to the public. The auditorium is open by 6:30. The meeting gets under way at 7:00, and may include brief announcements by other organizations as well as OSFN club activities, club business, social time, nature sightings and reports.

The club also offers a full schedule of outdoor activities during the year. Through these outings, members learn more about the birds, plants, mammals and geology of this part of Ontario. We also keep a protective eye on our precious natural areas.
