Description
Since its first release in 1997, Orchids of Bruce & Grey went on to become a Canadian Best Seller. Now this 5th edition landmark publication has been completely updated and revised with current Species at Risk rankings, updated Latin and common names and two pages of text and photos for each of the 49 orchid species that have been recorded in Bruce and Grey counties. Anecdotal information as well as a systematic description of the plant and its habitat, accompanied by diagrams of the plant and the individual flower are included. New updated digital photographs show each plant in its habitat, close up of the flower and the whole individual plant. Bruce and Grey counties are unique, with the Niagara escarpment running throughout and with Georgian Bay on one side and the main body of Lake Huron on the other. The high calcium content of the escarpment dominates the soils and wetlands. Combined, all of these factors create a variety of habitats suited to 49 species out of 63 species of orchids found in Canada. Bruce Grey has the highest concentration of orchids in North America, outside of Florida. We know you will want to order our new, 5th edition of Orchids Bruce & Grey.
