The escarpment rocks, wetlands and natural forests found in Bruce and Grey counties provide habitat for a great many species of ferns, 50 of which are featured in the 2nd edition (2005) Descriptions, identification assistance, frond silhouettes, and a distribution map are included in this PDF edition. The PDF edition does not include colour photos. This publication has been used extensively by amateur naturalists wishing to learn about ferns.
Since the 2nd Edition was published, the names of some species have been changed and several ferns have been added to the list. For current species names and the complete list of ferns now found in Grey and Bruce, refer to the Vascular Plant List Bruce & Grey (5th Edition).
The free Fern Checklist, available under Checklists, includes silhouettes and updated names of 38 of the more common ferns in Bruce and Grey.
