SUMMARY:Old Baldy Through New Eyes with Beth Gilhespy
DESCRIPTION:Sun Nov 1\, 2026 9 am – NoonOld Baldy Through New Eyes with Beth GilhespyOld Baldy to Eagle’s Summit | 6.2 kmYou may have hiked at Old Baldy before\, but this geological adventure through time will show you the landscape with new eyes! The hike from Old Baldy to the Bruce Trail Conservancy’s new Eagle’s Summit Nature Reserve offers a beautiful blend of forest walking\, sweeping Beaver Valley views\, and remarkable geology. From the cliff-top lookouts we’ll see moraines\, shale slopes\, and dolostone ridges that tower over the valley below. We will trace ancient coral-reef bioherms\, explore cambering ridges and crevices\, and wander over glacial deposits left by retreating ice. It’s a rewarding walk that reveals how bedrock\, glaciers\, rivers\, and time have sculpted the Beaver Valley’s dramatic landscape. Meet at Beaver Valley Rest Area 2 km south of Kimberley on Grey 13.
