DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday\, October 9Time: 7 pmLocation: The Bay Room at the Bayshore Community Center \n\n\n\nA dedicated Research Scientist\, Martyn Obbard will discuss the ecology and behaviour of the small\, at risk\, genetically isolated and unique population of black bears on the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula and how these bears differ from bears elsewhere in Ontario. The presentation will draw on results of a long-term research study conducted jointly by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources\, Parks Canada and graduate students from Trent University in Peterborough. \n\n\n\nCan’t join us in person? DESCRIPTION:Pat\, Rod and Erik Sein invite you to join them for an Autumn Morning Nature Ramble along the Lake Huron Shore\, with a focus on birding\, plus watching for other Nature highlights along the way. \n\n\n\nThey will begin at the mouth of the Sauble River at 7am\, likely arriving at Oliphant by the flagpole at 8am – then continuing northwards with stops along the way\, including Petrel Point and Limberlost/Bury Road\, and arriving between Noon and 1pm at their house in Ferndale\, where Pat says she will have a pot of chili and buns waiting in the slow cooker. There will also be coffee\, tea\, cold drinks and cookies. \n\n\n\n“We are hoping to see a variety of waterfowl\, gulls\, shorebirds and raptors. And\, we are hoping for views of migrant birds including: American Pipits\, Horned Larks\, Lapland Longspurs\, late migrant Warblers plus our fall and winter friends – the Juncos\, Sparrows and Kinglets.
