Bruce Birding Club Outing – November 18, 2009

The focus of the outing was on waterfowl.  The places visited were the shoreline from the Bay Shore Arena to Leith, the grain elevators, the Wiarton Sewage Lagoons and Isaac Lake.  A total of 30 species of birds were seen.  At the Lagoons there were a flock of Bonaparte’s Gulls, Green-winged Teal. Lesser and Greater Scaup and a Bald Eagle flying overhead.  Issac Lake had a nice surprise in having a female Black Scoter all by itself giving all a great view.  The bay had a variety of migrating ducks including, Buffleheads, Common Goldeneye, Greater Scaup, and some Long-tailed Ducks.  For a more specific list, contact birding@owensoundfieldnaturalists.ca.
