Get your kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, (and your friends’ and neighbours’ kids too!) signed up for our Young Naturalist Programme which starts up THIS Sunday, September 25, 2-4PM at Grey Sauble Conservation.

See Krista’s note below and the Young Nats Newsletter and Year-at-a-Glance activities. A terrific investment in our Youth and a chance to win a sponsored Summer Nature Camp too! Great camaraderie and learning about Nature with their peers from a keen and experienced team.

Young Naturalists' 2016/17

Young Naturalists’ March 2016 Meeting Report

Tuesday, April 5th, 2016

A message from our Junior Naturalist leader:

The Young Nats and parents packed the basement Administration Centre at Grey Sauble Conservation to take part in Bonita Johnson-deMatteis instruction on how to draw. After our pencil warmup, we all went outside with our clip-boards and sketched trees in the Arboretum. Thank you Bonita – we had a great time! Then we talked about how do we know what tree to sap, how to recognize a maple tree by its bark and buds. Back to the basement where we sampled sap, syrup and homemade pancakes! YUM!!

What’s up next?
April 24th – pollinator plants, milkweed seed planting, tree planting
May 15 – (to be confirmed) with Cabot Head – Bird Banding at 10:30 (if the birds are still migrating J)

Thank you for your assistance!!!!

The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA) collaborates with the Owen Sound Field Naturalists(OSFN) to coordinate the Young Naturalists’ Club. This club is for boys and girls ages 7 to 12 years old (5 to 6 year olds are welcome accompanied with a parent). The program operates from September to June (no meeting in December). Parents or guardians are welcome to stay and participate or volunteer if they wish.

The Young Naturalists Club has lots of fun outside – snowshoeing, quinzee building, crafts, marsh exploring, hiking and lots more !!! Only have room for 25 children so register early!

The 2014-2015 program filled up fast! We have a waiting list.  Additional details can be found in the Young Naturalists’ 2015/16 Newsletter or on the GSCA site.  As well Krista McKee at GSCA would be happy to answer any further questions you might have.
